There are quite a few variations on Quick Hit that have come out over the years. Some are more drastic reinventions while others are just small tweaks to a standard. In the case of Free Games Fever, it’s mostly a tweak on the bonus round.
The base game options maintain the themes from their mechanical reel predecessors, and while this uses mechanical reels with overlays, it’s still a mechanical reel machine.
Also like its predecessor, the game is traditionally configured in a 30 line format with either a 150 credit or 300 credit max bet, quite accessible, but also quite required to qualify for the Quick Hit progressives, which there are five in all.
Three Quick Hits or more pay, and because this is one of the classic versions it follows the classic payout structure:
- 3 Quick Hit symbols: 1x your total bet
- 4 Quick Hit symbols: 5x your total bet
- 5 Quick Hit symbols: 10x your total bet, unless max betting and hit in the base game; then a progressive that starts at 10x your total bet
- 6 Quick Hit symbols: 50x your total bet, unless max betting and hit in the base game; then a progressive that starts at 50x your total bet
- 7 Quick Hit symbols: 100x your total bet, unless max betting and hit in the base game; then a progressive that starts at 100x your total bet
The progressives can grow quite substantial, so the wins even on $1.50 bet can be quite nice for that bet.
This game also has the three bonus symbols on the middle three reels, with a picking bonus, but this time the picking bonus determines what type of bonus you’ll get, as opposed to the number of spins (all bonuses yield 10 free spins):
- 2x multiplier bonus
- 3x multiplier bonus
- locking wild symbols
- extra Quick Hit symbols
The progressives are out of reach during the bonus, but you can still be paid handsomely on the Quick Hit symbols. Out of the four bonuses I like the 3x most, but I’ve had some really good locking wild bonuses (as well as many that didn’t pan out). But at least there’s some diversity there.
